Our Materials

UBU uses not only the best ecological option for swimwear but also the fabric that is most comfortable and durable.
Meaning a swimsuit that you can love to wear for longer.

ECONYL® Regenerated Yarn

UBU Swimwear uses fabric made from ECONYL® Regenerated Yarn, a yarn that is 100% regenerated from post-consumer materials.

ECONYL® regenerated nylon is made by recovering nylon waste - such as fishing nets from the oceans and aquaculture, fabric scraps from mills and carpets destined for landfill – and turning it into virgin quality nylon yarn for the fashion and interior industries. Its a truly fascinating process. Watch the clip below to learn more.

You can also learn more about the whole regeneration process here - https://www.econyl.com/the-process

Carvico Vita is a luxury Italian fabric made from 78% PA (ECONYL® Regenerated Yarn) & 22% Elastane (XTRA LIFE LYCRA® fibre).

- It has excellent UV protection at UPF 50+ (the maximum obtainable)
- is impressively comfortable
- extremely durable.
- twice as resistant to degradation from chlorine and sun creams and oils as other fabrics- meaning your swimwear will last for seasons and seasons to come.  (That said, we do still advise all our customers to follow our Swimwear Care guide to keep your swimwear at its very best, so make sure to read that.)

Carvico Vita fabric has OEKO-Tex 100 Certification and its producers, Carvico, is ISO 14001 certified.
What do these mean? OEKO-Tex 100 Certification is one of the world's best-known labels for textiles tested for harmful substances. It stands for customer confidence and high product safety.
ISO 14001 is the international standard for environmental management systems (EMS) and the most widely used EMS in the world.
